Hello!
My name is Suzie Ewing and I have been a CASA Volunteer for almost 4 years, and have worked on two cases so far. I became a CASA Volunteer after working with many victims of violence as a therapist.

In my career, I got to see firsthand the positive impact that a caring adult has on a person. It could be a teacher, a coach, or a relative; it just needed to be someone who cared. As a CASA, I hope to be that one person who makes a difference in a child’s life. 

Since becoming a CASA Volunteer, my biggest takeaway is the love you give and the love the child gives in return. Getting to see happiness and smiles from the child is how I see the impact I have.

One of my favorite memories is when I showed up at my CASA kid’s school for a visit and with all the excitement in the world he yelled, “Suzie!” and I got the biggest hug. Although that case has now closed, I still am able to get together with him monthly.

While I have experienced some difficult moments, the support from the GALs (Guardians ad Litem), Judges, and my CASA Advocate Supervisor is what helped me push through those challenging times.

To be a CASA Volunteer is so rewarding. You get to feel like you’ve accomplished something huge in your life, and you’ll never forget the experience and the difference you made in a child’s life.
