Congratulations to our April Volunteer of the Month, Frankie Dubar-Nelson!

Frankie was sworn in as a CASA Volunteer in November of 2021.

Since her swearing in, she has been dedicated to the same case.

When asked why she became a CASA Volunteer she responded with the fact that she wanted to make a difference in the lives of children. “I wish someone had done something like this for me when I was a kid. The purpose I have is motivated by the pain I experienced. I am happy to turn that pain into something positive.”

Frankie started off as a CASA with a specific mission, she solely wanted to represent kids with disabilities. She knew that this demographic of child was severely underserved and she had the background to be able to take on that type of case.

“My CASA kid lives pretty far away, but her school is nearby. Every time I show up she runs to me, hugs me, and is so happy to see me. The amount of love she has to give brings tears to my eyes.”

Here at CASA we wanted to take a moment to value and give recognition to the hard work that our volunteers do, and Frankie’s dedication to being a CASA Volunteer is why we have named her as April’s Volunteer of the Month.
