Congratulations to our September Volunteer of the Month, Anne Usman!

Anne Usman knew that in her free time, she wanted to do something big. She wanted to do something worthwhile. She wanted to make a difference in her community.

She first learned about CASA at one of our events, and after listening to volunteers describe our mission, it resonated with her. Anne knew CASA was going to be the perfect fit for her.

Shortly after? Anne was sworn-in as a CASA Volunteer. Since then, Anne has brought her positive, infectious energy to all things CASA. From visits with her CASA kids, to speaking up in court, to supporting our organization at fundraising events.

Anne recalled one of her most impactful moments as a CASA Volunteer, which was a moment in the courtroom. All parties were discussing a possible placement for the child, and the Judge brought up one of Anne’s solutions that she had written in her court report. It was the first time she truly felt heard and seen in her role, and her suggestion ended up being agreed upon by all. “I felt so empowered to know that I am making a difference in the life of my CASA child and the court system.”

Looking to become a CASA Volunteer and make a difference in the life of a child or youth in need, just like Anne? She would tell you to “make sure you are comfortable dedicating real quality time to the program, because that is what these kids need. You do that, and you can be a remarkable positive influence to a child.”

Congratulations again to Anne on being selected as our September Volunteer of the Month!
