Meet A Volunteer - Madison
Hi!
My name is Madison Alsbach and I have been with CASA for six months now. I have worked one case so far but I look forward to continuing to learn and grow as a CASA Volunteer!
I became a CASA Volunteer through the inspiration of my mom. She has been a CASA Volunteer for a few years in Wisconsin. It’s such an incredible program and has had a huge impact on her life. I am at a point in my life where I have a lot of time and energy to give, so I thought what better way to spend my free time!
Since becoming a CASA Volunteer, my biggest takeaway as a CASA Volunteer is how important this role is. Every child deserves someone who will pay attention to them and communicate their needs in these situations.
I have definitely experienced some hard moments in my time. But I’ve gotten through all of them by remembering what my goal/purpose is in this volunteer position; that I am advocating on behalf of a child, and there is no hard moment that is more important than that overarching goal.
The most heart-warming moments for me though have been when a child starts to open up and connect with me. Getting to know a child and becoming a person that is a constant for them, someone that they can rely on, is so deeply rewarding. Those little moments where the child starts to open up and I get an opportunity to get to know them more, are so special.
If you are thinking about becoming a volunteer, I would say don’t look back! There’s lots of highs and lows, and it can be tough sometimes, but the program is incredible and so rewarding. The community of people that have come together to help one another and advocate for the most vulnerable individuals in our community is truly amazing and I feel honored to be a part of something like it.
