In honor of November as Native American Heritage Month, our next Volunteer Book Club selection is The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters. This powerful debut novel follows a Mi’kmaq family grappling with the disappearance of their young daughter, exploring themes of loss, resilience, cultural identity, and the lasting impact of family separation. Its story echoes many of the issues we encounter in child advocacy, underscoring the importance of cultural competency and representation in our work.
