Understanding Mandating Reporting and More

This training is meant to be a supplemental training in addition to the required state training. The goal is to discuss mandatory reporting within the context of the child welfare system as a whole, with a focus on supporting families. It’s a facilitated discussion around:

What child abuse & neglect is, as defined by Colorado law
How to figure out when you should make a call
Tips for making a good hotline call
What happens after a hotline call, eg, how it’s determined what kind of child welfare action will be taken, if any
Overview of the child welfare system as a whole and tips for supporting families
Discussion of the shift in child welfare to a Differential Response model and how that might impact you and the families you work with
Discussion of Adams County’s prevention program and how it fits into mandatory reporting
